The demerger and accelerated placement of Valterra Platinum

The demerger of Anglo American Platinum (renamed Valterra Platinum) marks a critical turning point in the execution of Anglo American’s strategy which included portfolio simplification and to unlock significant value for its shareholders. The accelerated placement eliminated any perceived overhand and enhanced its free float and liquidity. Following the demerger, Valterra remains one of the world’s leading integrated producers of platinum group metals with a primary listing on the JSE and a secondary listing on the LSE.

Local Advisers to the demerger: Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Merrill Lynch, Investec Bank, Rothschild & Co, Rand Merchant Bank, Webber Wentzel, Bowmans and Deloitte and PwC.

Business Rescue & Turnaround
Transaction of the Year 2025

Langeberg & Ashton Foods

After years of uncertainty the transaction concluded a five-year search for a suitable buyer where Tiger Brands was under pressure to sell the business or close it. Rather than divesting through closure Tiger Brands engaged with a consortium comprising Ashton Fruit Producers Co-Operative (representing over 100 commercial fruit producers across the Western Cape, and the Langeberg Community Trust) and Norfund (Norway’s Development Finance Institution). The collaborative model, blending international development capital, local producer ownership, and community benefit, sets a blueprint for inclusive growth in South Africa's agriculture sector.

Local Advisers: Absa CIB, Nedbank CIB, J.P. Morgan, Baker McKenzie, ENS, Boy Louw and PwC.
